Home-Making

Home-making: A Chain Tying You Down, or a Service Filled with the Utmost of Purpose?

The Key to Filling Your Homemaking Tasks With Purpose

Homemaking… it can be as big or as small a task as you decide to make it.

In the greatest sense of the word, it’s the art of creating a warm loving place where family and friends want to hang out together. So it includes spirit, vibrancy, and an overarching sense of purpose and serving those you love.

Yet if you allow yourself to focus on the mundane, it can be a cruel taskmaster. It’s oh-so-true that there will often be overwhelming mountains of laundry, cleaning, food preparation and cleanup, and home repairs that are no sooner completed than they need doing again.

But Proverbs 14:4 says, “Where no oxen are, the manger is clean. But much increase comes by the strength of the ox.” [Emphasis added]

I don’t know about you, but I have many oxen. And it tends to make my life messy. Children… books… projects… work… family… friends… home.

Most people today consider children too messy to bother with. They don’t want to sacrifice their own desires. Or cook wholesome meals for their family. Or read instead of watching TV. And the list goes on…

But by that standard, they miss out on the gain they could have reaped from the “strength of the ox.”

Yes, children and cooking and books and toys make your house messy. Such is the nature of those things… at least till you train your children to help manage the mess.

My grandmother passed down a plaque to me that dates back some 50 or 70 years now. It puts this in perspective – and should make us all thankful for the blessings we have, even the ones that come with a “mess.”

Here are its words (author unknown):

Thank God for dirty dishes
For they have a tale to tell
While others may go hungry
We’re still eating well.
With health, home and happiness
We surely shouldn’t fuss
For by the stack of evidence
God’s been very good to us.

Don’t worry too much about the mess. It’s actually empowering to know that your “barn” doesn’t have to be perfect.

But still, many want to know how you keep all those balls in the air…

That’s the focus of this page. Here, we’ll give you quick tips and must-know info on various aspects of homemaking.

And much more. So come back often. Because we’ll be sharing the best tips, tricks, and resources we can find to help you stay on top of your daily task list as much as possible.
